Welcome Hey there, thanks for stopping by! Welcome to my little corner of the internet, my place to share my voice and photography. In case you don't know me, I am Sara (that's me to the left, the one without a big white furry coat). I am a photographer based in the San Francisco Bay area, California. I LOVE my work, and you will see a bit of that sneaking in here. I also use this as a place to share other parts of my life. You will find adventures, food and little tidbits about my life with my darling husband and our two fat cats.  Please feel free to have a look around and even leave me a note. I would love to hear from you!

It is amazing how time flies! I shot Jeffery and Karin's wedding back in the beginning of October with the amazing Jay Kelly... and it is already December!!! It is as if I blinked lost two months. Here is a peek at a few of the images that I captured after the ceremony and reception where through, when the sun had come out. It turned out to be a beautiful day in Halfmoon Bay.

Chrystal contacted me with a whirlwind behind her. She was getting married in 6 weeks, there was no time to waste! Her and Mikey had planned on getting married in the following year, but life happened. Chrystal's little sister is pregnant...and so is Mikey's sister. They will both be due about the time that they had originally planned on getting married. The other constraint: the military. Mikey is in the service, it is hard to say when he is going to be called to duty. Chrystal and Mikey didn't want to wait anymore, so they decided to push up the wedding date. So, the wedding was planned in a few short weeks. Chrystal did an amazing job despite the time constraints.

The only problem with having a wedding  in late October is that there is no telling what the weather will do. We managed to be stuck in the middle of the storm. It was certainly a challenge to shoot in the rain (I had never had to deal with a steamed up lens before). It also added something special to the day, I especially loved the rain boots and the umbrella.

SaraAtkinsPhoto_101024_IMG_2138.jpg
Chrystal and Mikey decided that they wanted to see one another before the ceremony. It was a perfect way to start the day. Chrystal was beaming and Mikey was full of pride. They shared a few special moments under the covered bridge before heading over to the train (that's right, they got married on a train!)

Chrystal couldn't fit through the little walkway in her dress, so the boys actually came down and lifted her onto their shoulders to bring her down the aisle. So much fun!

Chrystal and Mikey, thank you so much for including me in your day. Despite the rain (and the man in the yellow jacket) it was a perfect day. You two look so happy together and I am thrilled to have been there to witness it.

Everybody's happy and the photos are incredible. Your artistic eye and the surroundings made your 'challenges' (rain, mud, steam, fog, etc!) pale in comparison. Phenomenal work, Sara.

When Lianna arrived at Testarossa Winery on her wedding day she was beaming. She gave me a huge hug and I had to hold myself back, I was so excited to get started photographing what I knew was going to be a stunning day. The sun was out and the smell of the redwoods filled the air. Lianna and the girls made their way into the bridal dressing room and the laughter began. The day was full of laughter, a few tears...but mostly laughter.

IMG_0622.jpg
She does.

IMG_0665_2.jpg

This was the moment I nearly cried. The light on Lianna was stunning coming through the window and as she glanced down I pressed the button and heard that magic click of the shutter. I knew it was going to be a keeper.

IMG_0837.jpg

Amidst the laughter I managed to get this photograph of Lianna. I love it, her eyes are just beautiful (she gets those from her mama).

IMG_0696_2 copy.jpg

And of course, this shot...one of my favorites. I love the laughter pouring out of this image. And this was her, most of the day. Pure joy.

IMG_0827.jpg

We were outside taking portraits and in the background I heard a high pitched scream, 'Limo!!!!!!!' followed by the click clack of high heeled feet running in the direction of the bridal changing room. The girls spied the boys driving up just in time to get Lianna out of sight without him seeing her. It was a close one.

IMG_0986.jpg
Love this shot. Could there be a more handsome group? The boys all had their flasks and were trying to get Ethan to relax before taking the plunge.

IMG_1000.jpg

Handsome Devil. Ethan wears groom well. And despite his nerves he managed to look pretty calm and collected.

How often does the groom get up on stage and rock out on his wedding night? As a wedding photographer I can vouch: not very often. I was so excited, not just for the images (which I have to say turned out pretty flipping amazing) but to hear him play! He got up there and had the room screaming, of course loudest of all was his new bride...jumping up and down with her arms in the air full of pride.

Lianna and Ethan, thank you so much for including me in your day. I am so happy to have been a part of it and I feel like I can safely say that I reached my goal. I wasn't really your wedding photographer, in the end you were more than clients to me. I didn't show up on your wedding day and photograph another job. I arrived and got swept up into the magic of your day, I was a friend that happened to have a really great camera. I am pretty sure I can say that I manage to photograph your day through your eyes. Thank you for letting me in, I loved every minute of it. And as for you, congratulations. You are blessed with many wonderful family and friends that clearly love you very much. But even more importantly, you have one another. Enjoy it, life is beautiful.

You can see a super fun slide-show of the day HERE.

It was a lovely backyard wedding, complete with fried chicken and collard greens.  Ananda Shorey of Bliss fotography had me come along and help her out for the day and it was a wonderful day to be a part of. Liz was so down to earth and absolutely beautiful in her wedding dress. Curtis was handsome and content. A sweet couple in a beautiful setting.

Congratulations Liz and Curtis!

Sally, well she is basically a knock-out. Steven is nothing but heart. Together they make a beautiful, fun and completely sweet couple. I was thrilled to be apart of their day, thanks to Jay Kelly. Jay asked if I could come along and help him out, this was my first time shooting with him but I am always up for working with new photographers. As it turns out, not only is Jay an amazing photographer, but he is a blast to shoot with. Thanks for having me along Jay!

Steven doing his happy dance. Sally laughing in the back ground. I could hardly keep my face straight long enough to snap this one. It just proves that people will do just about anything if they think a good photo will come out of it.

The reception was at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel in San Francisco. It was my first time at this venue, I didn't anticipate the fantastic party that would be happening in this room.

One of my favorite parts of the evening, the belly dance. I had never seen a belly dancer before. Oh man was that fun. Now if only I can figure out how to make my body move like that. If you have ever seen me dance (if you are a wedding client you probably have) you know that my moves are somewhat limited to two signature moves. If you haven't seen me dance, well, you should ask =)

IMG_9705.jpg
Sally and Steven, thank you for letting me be part of your day. I wish you the best and...keep dancing!
