Traveling in Italy is an adventure to be certain. The funny thing about traveling in Italy is that you can never really expect things to run as planned. When we left Chioggia we thought we had everything all planned out. Flight booked, rental car reserved. No problems right? Well... not exactly. When reserving our rental car the print read (in english): 'Your car has been reserved, use this print out as verification of reservation'. We get to the rental office to find out that that little one line of print in Italian on the bottom of the page says that there was an error and the car has not been reserved. What? And, surprise surprise, there are no other cars left to book. Awesome. Luckily I got to work on my newly acquired phrase, parla inglese? as I spoke to just about every rental office at the airport. Eventually we did get a car and were off on the whirl wind tour of Sicily.
 

On our lovely little weekend with the Boscolo family we did quite a bit of wondering. Between sniffles and hacking coughs I managed to make a few photos of the places that we visited. here are a few more...

Finally a decent internet connection and I am semi-conscious enough to do something about it!! We are on the Amalfi Coast now, but I want to get some images up of our adventures so far. These ones are from out trip to a winery called Villa Sandi with my Italian family. We have been having a pretty great time despite the lingering flu. We are taking the approach that enough pizza and gelato will cure anything.

Charlie and I are traveling throughout Italy and the internet connection is a bit spotty. We are now in Sicily and loving it for the most part. We are still recovering from being sick. I got a nice tour of an Italian hospital in Chioggia. It is such a funny contrast to American hospitals. Just before I left California I sat in Stanford hospital for three hours to get two pills and a prescription for some meds. In Chioggia, I was in for about 3 minutes max. The doctor checked my throat, my ears gave me a diagnosis of tonsillitis and kicked me out the door with another prescription. Bless universal health coverage.

Hopefully I will be able to sit down some time soon and catch up on all of the writing I have not been able to get posted. Until then, Ciao!  

Yesterday was a full day! Charlie, Mariangela and myself caught a boat to Venice and spent the whole day exploring the city. Unfortunately, my cold only got worse and I managed to loose my voice while charlie also started to get sick and had a terrible fever. But, how often are we in Venice? We tried to make the most of it and followed Mariangela through the maze of streets. The images below are Charlie, Mariangeal and mine... all mixed up. Enjoy!.
