Welcome Hey there, thanks for stopping by! Welcome to my little corner of the internet, my place to share my voice and photography. In case you don't know me, I am Sara (that's me to the left, the one without a big white furry coat). I am a photographer based in the San Francisco Bay area, California. I LOVE my work, and you will see a bit of that sneaking in here. I also use this as a place to share other parts of my life. You will find adventures, food and little tidbits about my life with my darling husband and our two fat cats.  Please feel free to have a look around and even leave me a note. I would love to hear from you!

Ahh the life of a cat! My ma-in-law gave us these beautiful pillows for Christmas, I have been meaning to get a picture up to show them off. The kids provide the perfect accompaniment to an already comfy looking couch. Pretty darn cute if you ask me. Fuzzy critters and polka-dots.

Being sick on holiday is no fun at all. Fortunately being sick while riding a horse on the beach makes it a little more bearable. About half way through our trip (when I was almost recovered and Charlie was just starting to get sick) we headed to Sleepy Hollow to go for a ride at Noordhoek beach.

Charlie taking it all in as he rides along the shore...maybe I will make a rider out of him yet! The slopes of Chapman's Peak rise to the right at the end of the sand. The peak in the distance is Karbonkelberg, west of Hout Bay.

See that smile on my face? This was pretty much the highlight of my trip. It is amazing to be back on a horse again... now if only I could figure out how to pack this sweet old horse into my luggage.

Lisa:

Thank you so much, ausome photos and great captions. So glad that you had a great ride. Sorry for the winter. Still boiling hot here, but the South Easter wind has picked up and blowing a gale. Yesterday afternoon we could not do a trail as there was a fire at the Kommejtie end of the beach and the helicopters where flying over the beach to pick up water from the sea. Kind regards Lisa

While the rest of the world welcomed in the new year, I was in bed by 8:00pm. I am officially old. Either that or just very jet-lagged. I like to think it is the latter. We had planned on arriving back in California a full day earlier than we actually did. The journey was a mission! We flew from Cape Town to Johannesburg only to find that our flight was 12 hours delayed. We then stood in line for 3 hours to get accommodation for the night. We finally got to the hotel at about 11pm where the porter deftly sent my camera bag rolling out of his golf cart. Really? I spent the night hiding from a dive bombing mosquito to crawl out of bed at 3:30am to a downpour.  We called for the golf cart man to take us to the lobby (I held onto my bag this time). Our entire flight of passengers then had to wait in line at 4:00am for a bus to take 12 people at a time to the airport. What a mess. We finally made it to the airplane and spent the next 17 hours watching movies while getting progressively more sleepy while being unable to sleep. We arrived in Atlanta (where my sandal broke...now its barefoot all the way back to SF. At this point all I could do was laugh. And snort.) to find that there were no seats available on our flight to San Francisco. We had to fly standby. Charlie made it onto the plane, I did not. So, it is another 4 hour wait to get a hotel. I finally made it home the following day. So you see, After hardly sleeping for three days, I figured that welcoming in the New Year with a bubble bath, a glass of champagne and and early night was a perfect plan. And it was.

So it was a bit of a rough way to end the year, but I can not complain. We have been extremely fortunate, it has been a wonderful year for us. We have traveled more than our fair share, spent loads of time enjoying friends and family. My business has brought me more joy than I could have hoped for while being challenging and pushing me to the limits of my creative and professional ability. We are healthy, strong, happy and excited for what the future holds. Life is good.

P.S. This shot was taken in from my in-laws home in Simons Town, South Africa. We had Christmas there, they have a beautiful view. Perfect for recovering from a cold!

Traveling is wonderful while at your place of destination and home is so welcome when you return. It's that whole in-between part that can really test your patience!!!! Happy New Year!!

It is that time of year again. Charlie and I are packing up and heading to Cape Town for the holidays. We are both looking forward to spending the holidays on the beach, hiking, enjoying family and friends (and penguins too!). Our flight leaves super early in the morning, we will be flying via Atlanta to Jo'burg. It is such a long flight, but getting to see some of my closest friends and Charlie's family makes it all worth it. We have such grand plans of doing a couple of WOD's in the airport and maybe even on the airplane. We shall see how that goes.

Here are a few images from my birthday weekend in Prunedale, my mom and I took the kids down to see the horses...
