Yesterday I had the most wonderful engagement session with Molly and David. Here is a little sneak peek from their session. I also thought this image was a good representation of why I use the gear I use.
Jenn emailed: 'Hi there...Came across your blog...just curious as to what camera you use and what are your favorite lenses? (especially when you photograph weddings and families) LOVE YOUR WORK!!! :) Thanks!
Well Jenn, the image above is the reason I use the gear that I do. I am a canon gal, I use the Canon 5D Mark II. I have two of these beasts and they are amazing cameras. They are full frame, allowing me to bump up my ISO in low light situations and make shooting a whole heck of a lot easier. My favorite lens as the moment is definitely the Canon 70-200 IS F/2.8. To translate: a moderate telephoto with image stabilization (a must have) and an aperture of 2.8. Having a lens that can open up to 2.8 is great for two reasons. First, in low light situations I am able to get more light into my lens allowing me to have a faster shutter speed which cuts down on blurry photos from camera shake. The second reason I love the wide open aperture is that beautiful blurry background. You can see from the image above how throwing the background out of focus causes the eye to go straight to our subject (this amazingly beautiful and passionate couple).
So there you have it. Thank you for your question Jenn, and stay tuned for more stunning images of Molly and David!
