Welcome Hey there, thanks for stopping by! Welcome to my little corner of the internet, my place to share my voice and photography. In case you don't know me, I am Sara (that's me to the left, the one without a big white furry coat). I am a photographer based in the San Francisco Bay area, California. I LOVE my work, and you will see a bit of that sneaking in here. I also use this as a place to share other parts of my life. You will find adventures, food and little tidbits about my life with my darling husband and our two fat cats.  Please feel free to have a look around and even leave me a note. I would love to hear from you!

We finally arrived in Cinque Terre, despite all of our troubles in getting there. The funny thing is, despite everything that went wrong I couldn't be happier. I was with two of my favorite people in a beautiful place. Life couldn't be better.

We arrived in Corniglia in the morning by train. When we arrived we found a sign notifying us that the bus to the main part of town was not running due to technical difficulties. Of course. However, the people of Italy always seem to come through when the infrastructure fails us. A nice fella saw Jess, Charlie and myself struggling with our huge bags (I need to re-asses my packing style) and decided to give us a lift up the HUGE hill. Thank goodness because the 382 stairs would have been difficult.

We only had one Full day in Cinque Terre and we were determined to make the most of it. We arrived in our room, tossed our bags on the bed and headed out to explore. If you have ever had the chance to visit Cinque Terre, you know that one day is not enough of this beautiful place. I had to learn that the hard way. This is a shot of the trail that meanders between the villages of Cinque Terre. It is a lovely walk if you are up to it.

Just like the rest of Italy it was HOT. Hot and humid. Thankfully Cinque Terre was jellyfish free and we took full advantage of the beautiful water.

Manarola in all it's glory. One of the oldest towns of Cinque Terre, a gem.

IMG_7996.jpgYes, we did get a chance to climb those stairs. All 382 of them. I just figured it was a good way to start working off my pasta belly. I welcomed the pounding of my heart in my chest. Several weeks of vacation can leave one feeling a bit sloth like.

After a long day of exploring we came back to the room to relax a bit and get cleaned up for dinner.

While trying to find a place to eat we heard a ruckus and decided to see what it was all about. We stumbled upon the national pesto making championship complete with pesto tasting free food and wine. Oh Italy, I love you.

After the pesto championship we wondered down to the lookout at the end of town. We found a charming young man playing some rather enchanting music creating a perfect atmosphere to was the sun dip below the mountains.

I love this shot of Jess. She is claims to hate to be photographed. I told her it is too bad that her biggest fan is a photographer. I think she is learning to live with me.

Matt:

Hi Sara!
We were in the Cinque Terre in March and had an amazing time! I’m glad to see you loved it and your pictures are amazing. I’m thinking of showing them to all our friends but claiming them as my own, any way of erasing your name from the lower left-hand corner? :O) Say hello to Charlie for me and I hope all is well. (How couldn’t it be?)
much love,
Matt

Sara Atkins:

Hey Matt! Isn't it amazing there? You are welcome to show them to your friends (especially the ones that are getting married or having babies soon!) You can just tell them that some creep named Sara Atkins managed to get a hold of your images and posted them on her site. I am sure they will never know =)
